Youth Tractor & Machinery Safety Course
The Tractor and Machinery Safety course certifies youth under 16 to operate tractors on public roads or work near dangerous equipment on farms. This certification allows 12 and 13 year olds to drive equipment on public roads for their parents’ farm, while 14 and 15 year olds are certified to work for extended family and non-family members. Certification is obtained by successfully completing the Tractor and Farm Machinery Safety Training Course including a written and tractor driving exam.
Dane County and Rock County staff teach one tractor safety class and alternate the host county from year to year. For 2018, the class will be held in Rock County at the Rock County Fairgrounds (1301 Craig Avenue, Janesville WI).
The class will run from June 18- 20 from 8am – 2pm and the tests (driving and written) will be given on June 21 from 8am-12pm. A parent or guardian is required to attend the start of the class with their child on June 18th from 8-9am. Parents will not be needed for the remainder of the course.
